About Cara Lopez Lee
Cara Lopez Lee is the author of They Only Eat Their Husbands, a memoir that explores her wild life and loves in Alaska, and the year she ran away from the Last Frontier to backpack around the world alone. Ghost Road Press plans to publish Cara's story in 2010.
Cara began her adventures as a TV reporter in Alaska. She received 11 journalism awards, and covered such unique stories as the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and Barrow's last sunset. She has journeyed in Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America and most of the 50 United States. Her travel articles have appeared in The Los Angeles Times, Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News and Santa Fe New Mexican. She has written for HGTV, Discovery Health and Food Network. She has also pitched shows seen on the Travel Channel, Weather Channel and Fox Sports Net.
Cara is currently writing a historical novel based on her Chinese-Mexican grandmother. Tortillas from the Canton Café will take readers to China, El Paso and Los Angeles, on a journey spanning 1910 to 1965. She also writes, edits and critiques books for clients.
When Cara's not writing, traveling or taking photos, she hikes, skis and dances the Lindy Hop. In 2003, she got married at a volcano in Costa Rica. She and her husband survived both dangers and now live in Denver.
